Modification of the period of validity of the seafarers’ French medical fitness certificate
Decree No. 2025-349 of April 14, 2025, codifying the provisions relating to the monitoring and medical fitness for navigation of seafarers extends the validity of medical certificates issued by the SSGM to two years for all seafarers aged between 18 and 55. Medical certificates issued after the entry into force of this decree will therefore be valid for two years, including for seafarers who primarily work during night watches. Certificates issued prior to this date will retain the expiration date originally set by the physician.
