Maritime Institute for Risk Prevention (IMP)

Created in 1992, the Maritime Institute for Risk Prevention (IMP) is an association under the law of 1901 administered by a joint council made up of representatives of employers and employees. The IMP is responsible for the general prevention of occupational risks, with the aim of contributing, by all appropriate means, to preserving the health and improving the working and living conditions of seafarers.

Its team constantly studies accident trends in the maritime sector and regularly goes on board French ships to analyse the work of seafarers and the risks to which they are exposed.

Thanks to these studies and the financial support of their partners (in particular the social security scheme for seafarers, ENIM), they are able to carry out a general prevention mission that is relevant and appropriate to the seafaring professions, covering the areas of advice, training and awareness-raising.

Every year, the IMP publishes a report on accidents at work and occupational illnesses in the maritime sector.
