The RIF Office, a simple and free service

The RIF Office is a single window concept, as a public service of the Government. As such, the formalities carried out by shipowners for registration of their ship(s) under the French flag are free of charge (for ship registration, maritime mortgages inscription/radiation, issuance of endorsement for recognition of foreign professional titles or reissuance of lost documents).

This particular status does not in any way impact the quality of the service provided. Indeed, the RIF Office has implemented a quality process which aims to best meet the expectations and needs of shipowners. This relies on the following:

• accessibility of information: a dedicated and regularly updated website, LinkedIn page and email address;
• simple procedures: the RIF Office is really the sole interlocutor of the shipowner;
• all services promptly performed (for example, it usually takes less than 2 hours between the delivery of a ship and its registration under the RIF, maritime mortgages included).
