The RIF team meets the Neoliner Origin!
⛵ Part of the RIF office team had the opportunity to visit the Neoliner Origin, the first ro-ro sailing vessel designed to decarbonise maritime transport, during its stopover in Marseille. This emblematic project illustrates France’s commitment to sustainable maritime transport and green industrial sovereignty.
A project of environmental and technological excellence:
➡️ Drastic reduction in emissions: Thanks to its 3,000 m² of rigid sails designed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, the Neoliner Origin aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90% compared with traditional cargo ships.
➡️ An operational solution: Designed to transport goods (vehicles, containers, etc.), it proves that the ecological transition can be combined with economic efficiency.
➡️ A mobilised French ecosystem: This project is co-financed by major players such as CMA CGM, Corsica Ferries, the Banque des Territoires, and ADEME Investissement, and supported by the expertise of Chantiers de l’Atlantique for the design of the rigid sails and the MAURIC naval design office for the design of the vessel.
The Neoliner Origin shows that it is possible to combine logistics performance with respect for the environment. Thanks to its vellic propulsion system and optimised energy management, this vessel opens up concrete prospects for reducing the carbon footprint of the maritime sector. It highlights France’s expertise in innovating to meet the climate challenge.
Many thanks to the NEOLINE team for their warm welcome during this visit, and fair winds and following seas to the Neoliner Origin and her crew!
