Commercial vessels under RIF are subject to the safety rules applicable to all French vessels.

These rules have been enacted via a series of statutes known as "divisions" which you can view online at the Ministry’s site. Go to the site

Before being put into service under the French Flag, all commercial vessels must be approved by the maritime authority responsible on the advice of a consultative committee that brings together experts in the industry. The vessel must also be subject to safety inspections (during ship-building, entry into service, periodic inspections, etc.) by the inspectors from the vessel safety centres.

For any additional questions please contact the RIF technical experte.
